The acronym IGP means Indicazione Geografica Protetta (Protected Geographical Indication in English) and identifies the second level of protection, after DOP, in the European wine classification. In Italy it is often replaced by the acronym IGT, which means Indicazione Geografica Tipica (Typical Geographic Indication in English).
