Marzemino is not a particularly famous vine outside some regions of northern Italy, except for a stealthy quotation in the opera Don Giovanni: “Pour the wine! Excellent Marzimino”.
In Veneto it is produced in purity in the following designations:
- Breganze Marzemino DOC
- Merlara Marzemino DOC
- Colli di Conegliano Refrontolo DOCG
- Colli di Conegliano Refrontolo Passito DOCG
In Lombardy it is produced both in purity and assembled with other grapes. The reference designations are:
- Botticino DOC
- Capriano del Colle Rosso DOC
- Cellatica DOC
- Garda Marzemino DOC
Only in more recent years Marzemino has found a place in Trentino where to express itself better. The reference designation, perhaps also the best known among those of Marzemino, is:
