Valdadige DOC

Valdadige DOC - in German Etschtaler DOC - is a multi-regional designation established in 1975. Although it covers a large area, it has an important common denominator in Adige river. The territory affected by the designation has heterogeneous characteristics depending on the latitude: following the course of Adige river first in the Trentino-South Tyrol and then in Veneto, you can meet both the flat areas of the valley bottom, rich in sandy deposits transported by the river, and the slopes at the base of the mountains, generally of a gravelly type, rich in skeleton. The climate is also heterogeneous, in relation to the altitude and the orientation of the slopes towards the sun; on average the winters are cold and snowy, while the summers in the valley bottoms are hot and muggy.

There are seven typologies of wine protected by Valdadige DOC; of these, four are based on some important grapes varieties that give the name to the relative typology.
