Asti Spumante DOCG is a sparkling wine made with the Charmat method belonging to the denomination Asti DOCG. Thanks to the strong and pleasant primary aromas as well as the characteristic freshness, it has become a reference point in the enogastronomic panorama, so much so as to be one of the most exported Italian wines in the world.
It is also produced in the Classic Method version, using the traditional sparkling process, i.e. by fermenting the wine directly in the bottle. At the tasting level, Asti Spumante Metodo Classico differs from Asti Spumante DOCG for a greater structure, finer and persistent bubbles, as well as a hint of more pronounced yeast, making it also suitable for consumption during meals.
Profile
The color ranges from straw yellow to slightly deep golden yellow. The scent is delicate, with a characteristic aroma. Floral notes can be traced back to acacia flowers and fruity notes to citrus, pear and melon. The taste is sweet, balanced, fresh, with pleasant aromatic notes, in the Classic Method version it could emerge an aromatic aftertaste.
Food pairing
Asti Spumante DOCG is an ideal companion for many festive occasions. Thanks to its aromatic character, it goes very well with patisserie, desserts or Christmas sweets.
Also Asti Spumante Metodo Classico version can be used to accompany dry confectionery and pastry products, as well as desserts. Being more structured than Asti Spumante DOCG, it can easily be combined with non-sweet foods, such as cured meats: in this case the carbon dioxide contained in the wine will help to melt the fat, leaving the mouth clean.
