Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is a red wine produced in the town of Montalcino, 40 km from Siena. We are in Tuscany, in a predominantly hilly area, where the vineyards follow each other between 120 and 600 m above sea level. The climate is mild, a cross between the Mediterranean climate of the coast and the mountain climate of the center of the Apennines - also because of constant ventilation.
Brunello is the local name of Sangiovese, grapes with which it is produced in purity.
Profile
The color is intense ruby red, tending to garnet with aging. The bouquet is intense, characteristic, with notes of berries, ripe fruit, dried fruit, caramel, wood, spices. The taste is dry, warm, tannic, structured, persistent.
Food pairing
It is one of the longest-lived wines on the Italian scene, it can be drunk even after many years, up to thirty. It goes well with structured and succulent dishes, such as red meats and game. It can also be combined with cheeses, provided they are aged and structured.
