When “che” makes the difference
Sciacchetrà - written with “che” - produced in the province of La Spezia, in Liguria, is a sweet white passito wine. It is part of the denomination Cinque Terre DOC and is produced with Bosco (40-100%), Albarola (0-40%) and Vermentino (0-40%) grapes.
Sciac-trà - written without “che” - is produced in the same region but on the opposite side, in the province of Imperia. It is a rosé wine produced with Dolcetto grapes (95-100%), locally called Ormeasco. It belongs to the name Ormeasco di Pornassio DOC.
