Classification
Most of the Lombardy vineyards are concentrated in the province of Pavia (55% of the total vineyard area), in the Oltrepò Pavese area, south of the river Po. Here are produced wines such as:
- Bonarda of Oltrepò Pavese DOC;
- Buttafuoco dell'Oltrepò Pavese DOC;
- Oltrepò Pavese Classical Method DOCG;
- Oltrepò Pavese DOC;
- Pinot nero of Oltrepò Pavese DOC;
- Sangue di Giuda of the Oltrepò Pavese DOC.
In second place in the vineyard area ranking there is the province of Brescia (28% of the total vineyard area), which includes the area of Franciacorta to the west, Lake Garda to the east. Here are produced wines such as:
- Botticino DOC;
- Franciacorta DOCG;
- Garda DOC;
- Lugana DOC;
- Valtènesì DOC.
