DOP, IGP and generic wine production in 2017

In 2017, 40% of Italian wines belong to a designation of origin and therefore decorated on the label with the DOCG or DOC appellations. 27% belong to a typical geographical indication IGT, while the remaining part, a substantial 33%, is produced as a simple generic wine.
