In 2017, Tuscany is the first region that - in percentage terms - produces the largest quantity of red wines in Italy. More than eight bottles out of ten (85%) are therefore filled with the great wines based on Sangiovese, from Chianti Classico to Brunello di Montalcino.
The other regions that boast an important percentage in the production of red wines are Basilicata (82%), Calabria (72%), Molise (70%) and Valle D'Aosta (69%).
