Corvina is the main vine cultivated in the province of Verona, both on the hills of Valpolicella and on the shores of Garda Lake. Together with the Corvinone and the Rondinella, it is the main grape at the base of the products of this territory. Its name seems to derive from the combination of its color with that of the crow feathers.
Tasting
The prevalent color is purple-red intense, sometimes accompanied by purple reflections. With aging it tends to become ruby red. The scent is intense and quite complex. In young wines there are unmistakable fruity notes of blackberry, plum and cherry, while the vegetal notes are scarce. With aging, spicy notes of chocolate and tobacco emerge. The taste is quite intense and very pleasant, characterized by a good acidity. The wine produced is usually bodied, on average tannic and soft, even in younger vinifications it guarantees a good softness.
