Malvasia Bianca di Candia is a white grapes variety grown in central Italy, mainly in Lazio. It is the most cultivated of the big Malvasia family and, given the very similar names, it is often confused with Malvasia Bianca (without “Candia”) or with Malvasia di Candia Aromatica. Unlike this one, however, it does not have a particular aromatic outfit: its wines do not affect for the intensity of the perfumes.
It is originating from Mediterranean basic and takes its name from the capital of the island of Crete, i.e. Candia. It prefers warm and dry climates, it also resists drought very well. It is often used in assemblies with Trebbiano or with other Malvasias. Its wines are not suitable for refinement.
Tasting
The color of its wine is intense straw yellow. The aroma is quite intense, mainly fruity. The taste is basically dry, it is also savory with a bitterish aftertaste.
